Vohaul-unteers

So... we're getting pretty close to releasing now - probably two months out max!  A bit of time has passed since the first post and we've had requests for more info in terms of where we're at.  So here's the low-down:

Q: How far are you into the initial development phase?  Is it playable?

A: We are out of "Alpha" and currently in the "Beta" phase of development.  Specifically, all the voice acting is complete, the soundtrack is done, and the puzzles are fully implemented.  The UI, "game save" mechanics, points, inventory, options etc. are all done and dusted as well.

So,  essentially it's playable end-to-end (right up to the meeting with Ken):

Q: What's left to do?

A:  Good question!  Here's a brief rundown (in point form):

  • Sound effects - While the soundtrack is complete - and, BTW, magnificently re-orchestrated by the talented duo Space Quest Historian (Troels) and J.P. Sapsford - we still have a few gaps we want to fill in terms of sound effects, mainly for the cutscenes (all of which can be found in the original version).
  • Cutscene Enhancements - we wanted to add something extra in terms of close-ups/camera work.  I suspect this may be ongoing after the initial release (depending on the feedback we get).

Q:  How much will it cost?

A:  Unlike Roger's "Mating Call Whistle" - the game will be completely free to download via itch.io (and our website).  Currently looking into alternative platforms as well.

Q: Can I get involved in testing/feedback?

A:  Absolutely!  If you would like to get your hands on the latest (beta) build simply email info@turbo-chimp.com to register your interest.

Q: Will there be updates once it's released?

A: This is a bit of a passion project for us and we're super keen to get feedback from other Sierra tragics like ourselves.  Depending on how busy we are (and how resource constrained we are) we will do our best to keep polishing/updating the game - depending on how wobbly things get haha.

That's it for now - we're getting super excited (and a bit nervous) about the release.   Watch this space for further updates!

i can't believe I stumbled upon this while looking for musical remakes of the space quest games on Youtube tonight. I grew up playing these as a kid and into my teens. This is amazing. Thank you.
